Holiday Cocktails!

December 14, 2015

With the Holidays right around the corner and the fun parties ahead, I wanted to test out a few “Holiday Cocktails” I found online. Now, you can step up your game this year! (It was actually just an excuse to drink.)

There are so many Pins, Facebook and Instagram posts about these fancy looking drinks that look so good but I have no idea if they actually taste good. I want to share with you my top two picks that are sure to be the hit of the p-a-r-t-y. They are really easy to make and you don't have to be a flame throwing, flare wearing bartender to fix up these drinks.

First drink I found was called the "Winter Sea Breeze" It tasted like a mojito but I didn't have to muddle and crush berries for 5 hours to make it. It's a really refreshing drink and you even look fancy drinking it because there are seeds in your drink.

Winter Sea Breeze       Ingredients:

  • 1 oz vodka

  • 1 oz grapefruit juice (1/8 cup)

  • 2 oz soda water (1/4 cup)

  • 10 pomegranate seeds

  • 3 mint leaves (for garnish)

Now, I will be politically correct and give you "directions" but I don't know your taste buds or how much liquor you can conquer but this is how I made mine...Fill your glass with a handful of ice, shot of vodka,   ( I prefer Titto's) squeeze in some grapefruit juice, pour the tonic water in till the glass is full and garnish with the pomegranate seeds and mint leaves. Boom and you're done! Yields 1 serving.

This next one was my favorite and mind blowing how simple it was to make! This one is called "Fireball Cider". Just be careful and don't let grandma sneak in too many sips. Because, we all know what happens when you have too much Fireball (We don't want to repeat Xmas 2013... Right Gran-Me-Maw?).

Fireball Cider Ingredients:

  • 4 Apple Slices

  • 1oz of Fireball Whisky

  • 3oz Apple cider

I used a large wine glass for this one...You can really put it in any type of glass you want but I thought it looked pretty cool. I ended up using half a gallon of apple cider because I didnt realize how big my glass was haha. Slice up some apples, I put about 4-5 in my drink. Pour one shot of Fireball Whisky (Or more if you prefer) then fill the rest up with Apple Cider and throw in the apple slices. It's that simple and absolutely delicious. Yields 1 serving.

So, there yah have it folks... Kaylin's Cocktails. Super easy to make and really-really good tasting. Hey, even if you are not hosting a party like me, you can always cozy up on  the couch and take a sip every time you hear the word "Grinch"
